  3. Jasper Jenkins Aug. 3, 1856 Morgan County- Nov. 24, 1913 in Magoffin County, KY.  He married Isabella Phipps on Dec. 9, 1872 in Magoffin County, KY. Isabella is the daughter of Greenville Phipps and Clarinda Jane Howard. Isabella was born 1859 in KY.  He married Mary E. Conley on Aug. 22, 1889 in Magoffin County, KY. Mary was born Oct. 1869 in KY and died Dec. 25, 1939 in Magoffin County.

Francis Marion Jenkins son of William & Sarah Jenkins. He married  Cynthia "Cent" A.  Phipps  ( Cynthia is sometimes listed as Howard).
Cynthia b. 1853- ? She is the daughter of Henry Howard & Elizabeth "Betsy" Phipps.

2nd Wife : Jane Risner (midwife). Marion and Jane married on March 14, 1901. Jane was born Aug 9, 1886 in KY.  She is the daughter of Conway Risner and Elaine Wadkins.  Jane is a lot younger than Marion. She was 14 years old when they married.

After the birth of Lula A. Jenkins, Marion Jenkins & Cynthia Phipps separated. The next four children were born between their separation and divorce.

William Green Jenkins son of Francis Marion & Cynthia Jenkins. William was born Sept. 1872 and died Jan. 18, 1956 in Magoffin County, Kentucky at the age of 81. He married Cora Roberta (may be spelled Roberts) Skaggs on June 29, 1894 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. Cora is the daughter of Arthur Skaggs and Cinda Rigsby. Cora was born March 23, 1878 and died April 29, 1956 in Magoffin County.

Green & Cora died at home. Green was sitting in a chair in the living room talking to his son Loyd Jenkins and  Doris Jenkins (not sure how Doris & Green are kin)  when  he fell over dead. Papaw Loyd thinks it was a heart attack. A few months later Papaw Loyd lost his mother. Cora was in bed sleeping and never woke up.


Stories about Green by Loyd Jenkins:

Green had a friend named Ed Hitchcock. Green called him Ed "Nasty Word". Papaw said that Green didn't cuss or would not say words that sounded "nasty".  So any time Green spoke of Ed Hitchcock, he called him Ed Nasty Word. Papaw always knew who he was talking about. Papaw said that Green thought of Ed as a brother. Ed also carried the mail.

Green was working in a corn field for $.25 a day when he saw a copperhead snake. He killed the snake and went and told the owner of the corn field what he did. The owner told Green, " I am not paying you to kill snakes!!" Green said,  "well then keep your quarter!!"  then he left. 



Cora name is sometimes listed as  Coria Skaggs, Cora E. Skaggs, Corey Skaggs or Cory Skaggs.

(Most records show eight children. I found Green 1 while searching Birth Certificate records. That would make nine for sure. Bearthie Jenkins may not be a child of Cora and Green)
  1. Loyd Jenkins b. Dec. 26, 1915 Magoffin County, Kentucky married Alma Castle (My grandparents). Papaw thinks his birthday is Dec 12, 1918. We have told him that his birth certificate had Dec. 26, 1915, but he says they messed it up! So we have his party on the 12th!! Papaw passed away on July 14th 2008. We Lovean Miss Him!
  2. Virgie Dove Jenkins  b. Aug. 1896  Magoffin County , Kentucky. Dove married Lonnie Montgomery.
  3. Arthur Jenkins  b. 1898 d. June 29, 1937 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. Arthur married Laura B. Howard.
  4. Claude Jenkins  b.1905 married Faulkie Russell.
  5. Rhoda "Rhoadie"  Jenkins married 1st Raney Montgomery. 2nd Lloyd Blanton.
  6. Pearlie  "Pearl" Jenkins b.1907 married Charlie Russell.
  7. Marvin T. Jenkins b. Oct. 1900 in Magoffin County, Kentucky
  8. Green 1 Jenkins born and died Feb. 06, 1918; age: u/1 in  Magoffin County, Kentucky. I am told that Cora was home alone when she went into labor and that she dropped Baby Green and he died. Cora almost went crazy after this and she never really got over it. When Green came home she was still rocking the Baby.  Death Cert. # 5254, Vol. 11.  Birth Cert. # 7814, Vol. 16, Magoffin County, mother: Cora Skaggs.  Papaw does not remember a baby brother named Green that died.

Green, Cora, Baby Green, Dove and many more Jenkins  family members are buried at the Head Of Coon Cemetery located on Coon Creek Road, Salyersville Kentucky.  I went to Head of Coon Cemetery and I could not find Baby Green's grave. I have been told that he is buried between Cora and Green. Cora and Green have a double headstone and it does not have Baby Green's name on it.
 Arthur Jenkins married Laura B. Howard. They had five children: Dorothy, Mary, Ossie, Carl and Edna Jenkins.

 Arthur was murdered by A. Howard. I know A. Howard's first name but I will not list it.  A. Howard died while in prison serving life for the murder of Arthur Jenkins. Papaw Lloyd remembers when they came and told "Pa" (Green) that A. Howard killed Arthur. Papaw said that "Pa" and him went and got Arthur, took him back to the house on horse back. A. Howard killed Arthur by hitting him in the back of the head with a axe.
Claude Jenkins b. 1905 married Falkie Russell on July 26, 1924. They have four children: Ruby, Heskel, Hackly and Hassel Jenkins.
Rhoda Jenkins married 1st to Raney Montgomery. They have one child Clovie Montgomery. Clovie married Linden Mann. Rhoda's 2nd husband was Lloyd Blanton. They have six children: Vinnie, Ovie, Earsel, Hubert, Zonie and Myrtle Faye. Rhoda use to live beside of us. She was a very sweet lady!! Always loved to tell stories. I wish I would have wrote them down. My uncle Jerry Jenkins stayed with Rhoda and took care of her for a long time. I remember Papaw's pond broke and surrounded Rhoda's home. Jerry packed her up the road to Loyd's house (her brother).

Pearlie "Pearl" Jenkins  b.1907  married Charlie Russell. They have nine children: Lenvil, Lenny, Zella Mae, Walden, Claude Lee, Harold, Floyd, Letha and  Lanna. Audia "Yall" Jenkins  married Lula "Lou" Phipps. They have seven children: Anna Maria, Mandy, Ed, Pansy, Regina, Eva and Audia Jr.

Ed came in and visited with Lloyd and his family. We was glad he came!!
 Virgie Dove Jenkins married Lonnie Montgomery. They have two children: Hassel and Martha Montgomery.

I need information and photos on Bearthie. I am not sure that Bearthie is a child of Green and Cora or a nickname of one of the girls.

               
 

 Loyd Jenkins married Alma Castle on  March 4, 1947 in Johnson County, Kentucky. Alma Castle b. Sept. 15, 1932 is the daughter of James "Jim" Castle and Amanda "Mandy" Caudill (see Castle or Caudill Family trees).
Loyd's name is sometimes spelled Lloyd.  Friends and Family calls him Lil' Loyd Jenkins. 

Notes:
Papaw Lloyd worked very hard all his life. He worked at a Sawmill  for $.50 a day. Mamaw Alma worked for a Shoe Factory in West Liberty, Kentucky.  They raised a garden and tobacco for many years. They have lived in the same house for over 50 years. The house that belonged to Green & Cora. Green & Cora lived with them until their death.  Papaw remembers when they had dirt floors  and how "Ma" use to sweep them 2 or 3 times a day. Papaw Loyd bought the farm off of Green. At one time he had 100 acres. But he sold most of it to Joe Ward.

 Mary Lou Jenkins born Aug. 28, 1955. She married Paul Edwin Brown. Paul was born March 15, 1955 and died Oct. 01, 1995. He is the son of Clifford & Crilda Brown (see Brown family tree).
They have two children:

Sue married Donald Holiday (no children).

Donald has two children: Brian & Stephanie.


Paul Jr married Paula Michelle Ward (daughter of Mike and Sharon Ward). Paul owns and drive a coal truck "Brown Trucking". They live in Magoffin County.
 They have two children.
    Michael Paul, age 10 and Abby Michelle Brown, age 4.
