William Patrick was born 1495 in Aryshire, Scotland and died 1549 in Edinburgh, Midothian, Scotland.  William married (name unknown) ? and his son was John Patrick.

John Patrick b. 1530 in Edinburgh, Midothian, Scotland and died in 1638 in Edinburgh, Midothian, Scotland. Wife unknown.  They had 4 children.

  1. James Patrick 1552 in Edinburgh, Midothian, Scotland. He married Agnes Finley. She was born 1557.

Hugh Patrick b. 1680 in Edinburgh, Madothian, Scotland married Mary Campbell on Nov. 24, 1704 in Edinburgh, Midothian, Scotland. Mary was born in 1685 in Edinburgh, Midothian, Scotland and died in 1744.

General Notes:
Hugh & Mary Patrick never came to America, but sons Robert, Hugh, William and John.


Robert Patrick came to Philadelphia PA. on Aug. 25, 1721 at the age of 21. He came as a bound servant on the ship Amity from the port of Bideford, England on Aug. 05, 1795. He was Indentured Servant to James Gerard. He owned property in 1741 in Salisbury Township, Lancaster Co., PA. and Yellow Britches Creek, PA. Between 1754-1758 he was Constable of Sugar Loaf Hundred. His son James was one of the Colonel Washington's soldiers at Braddock's Defeat defeat. Most of Robert Patrick's children served with Washington in the Revolutionary War.

Robert Patrick married Elizabeth (last name unknown) in 1728 in Yellow Britches Cumberland Co., Philadelpha, PA.
Elizabeth was born in 1709 in Edinburgh, Midothian, Scotland.

  • Jeremiah Patrick b. 1738 in Maryland and died 1819 in Middlefork, Licking River, Magoffin County, Kentucky off Route 30. He was buried at Etheridge Dyer Cemetery, off RT. 30, Magoffin County, KY. Across from the middle School up to the right on a little hill. He is buried beside Rueben Arnett's grave (See Arnett Family Tree). Rueben's homestead.

  •  While he served in the Revolutionary War he was taken prisoner. He was charged with being an enemy to this country and acting under the commission of the King of Great Britian. Witness were brought forth and he was found innocent, but bound to his good behavior for 12 months and fines a sum of 1000 pounds.
  • Jeremiah was born in Maryland, moved to Giles Co. in 1790 then to Russell Co. and in 1810 he moved to Floyd County, Kentucky now Magoffin County, Kentucky. He died soon after he arrived in KY.
  •  He was a farmer and one of the earliest settlers of KY.
He married Sarah "Sally" Blair in 1761 in Harrodsburg, VA. Sarah Blair was b. 1741 in VA.  Sarah died 1793 in Russell County VA. Sarah was the daughter of Brice Blair. Brice was born in 1770 in Ireland and died 1785 in Penn. I do not have Sarah's mothers name. I do know that her father was married again after her mother to Susannah (last name unknown).

  • Records from the Russell County Virginia Deed Book states tha Jeremiah and Sarah sold the last of their property July 6, 1813.

"Old" William Patrick (s/o Jeremiah & Sally) married Mary Rains (AKA: Molly or Mollie Reins) on Aug. 15, 1790 Giles County, VA.  Mary was born in 1770 Montgomery County, VA. and died en-route to Magoffin County Kentucky in 1809. Mary is the daughter of Meredith Reins.

Most of their children was born in Montgomery County or Russell County VA.
  • Mary Rains Patrick died en-route to Kentucky. I can't find a lot of information on her.  She is buried at the Old Rueben Patrick Homestead near Bradley Freewill Baptist Church, Captain Wiley Patrick Cemetery on highway 1888 in Magoffin County, Kentucky.
  • Meredith Reins was a Revolutionary War Soldier.
Notes I have about William "Old William" Patrick and his family:
  • An old weathered tombstone that stands tall in the cemetery marks his grave.
  • William Patrick moved to Floyd County Kentuck now Magoffin County in 1809.
  • Military Services: Served in the War of 1812. William was in the Battle Of Norfolk. Military Service: August 1, 1781, served 2 months and 19 days. Jan. 1, 1781 William was in Captain Thomas Rankin's Company. William was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He was drafted Jan. 1, 1781 and assembled at Tea's in Captain Rankin's Company. After 4 weeks he was assigned to Captains Charles Cameron's Company, of Colonel Sampson Matthew's Regiment of which William Bowyer was Lieutenant Colonel and Alexander Roberson Major. The Company marched to "Old Bird Ordinary" (pub) on the way to Richmond. William was discharged after 2 months and 19 days after seeing no battle. William applied for Revolutionary War Pension at the age of 69 on Sept. 25, 1832. If this is correct William's date can't be 1827.
  • 1810, William left Russell County, VA. and with his young family on jolt wagons and packhorses crossed into Lee County. William carried a gun during this move. They traveled hundreds of miles to get to Kentucky. They entered Indian trails and still pushed on to get to Burning Spring on Burning Fork of Licking River, about 4 miles of present day Salyersville. Then Licking Station in  Floyd County (now Magoffin). They averaged about 10-15 miles a day. William aquired land because of his military services.
Rueben Patrick s/o "Old William" and "Mollie".
    Rueben was born July 18, 1791 and died Aug. 12, 1845 in Morgan County, Kentucky. He is buried in the Patrick Cemetery off 30 Dyer Branch Magoffin County, Kentucky. Rueben married Elizabeth Flint. No children are found. He then married Charlotte Wilson (born Oct. 12, 1794) on Dec. 15, 1812.

Thomas Calvin Patrick (s/o Rueben & Charlotte) married Rebecca Patrick. Rebecca is the d/o John Patrick and Martha Kennard. They have one son John L Patrick born Oct. 6, 1848 in Magoffin County.

Richard Patrick (s/o "Old William & Mary Patrick) born 1802 in Russell County and died 1870 in Magoffin County. Richard  married  Elleanor "Ellenny" Kennard on Jan. 8, 1824 in Floyd County Kentucky. Elleanor is the daughter of James Kennard and Mary Patrick. They had 6 children.

Jeremiah Patrick Jr. (s/o Jeremiah & Sally) married Anne (last name unknown). They moved from Russell County VA. to Bath County Kentucky about 1813.

John Jackson Patrick (s/o Jeremiah & Sally). Court records and deeds show that he lived in Floyd County for several years in the 1802's & 1830's. He is listed in the Floyd County Court Records as the heir of Jeremiah Patrick. By 1839 he was listed as not being an inhabitant of Kentucky.

Brice Patrick (s/o Jeremiah & Sally)   married Rebecca Prater on March 20, 1834. Rebecca is the daughter of Archibald Prater . They were divorced shortly after their marriage. After the divorce Brice moved to Missouri.

Thomas Patrick (s/o Jeremiah & Sally) is shown to have considerable amount of land on the Burning Fork and on Puncheon Camp Creek. He is listed as being a heir to Jeremiah Patrick. Court records show that he also moved to Missouri.

Elias Patrick (s/o Jeremiah & Sally) married Mary Wilson. They lived in Morgan County Kentucky.

Polly (Mary) Patrick (d/o Jeremiah & Sally) married James Kennard on May 8, 1782, in Montgomery County, VA. They moved to Floyd County Kentucky before 1820 and left many decendants in present day Magoffin County.

Gerusia Patrick (d/o Jeremiah & Sally) married John Young.

Rutha Patrick (d/o Jeremiah & Sally) married Levi Jackson. They lived in Floyd County, Kentucky but by 1839 moved out of the state of KY.

Sarah Patrick (d/o Jeremiah & Sally) married Micajah Collier. They owned land on Big Mud Creek of the Big Sandy River. They had one child Jeremiah Collier (Spelled Colyer in some records).

Margaret Patrick (d/o Jeremiah & Sally). Margaret was born Sept. 2, 1783 and was married to Caleb May. They moved to Floyd County before 1820.

William "Salty Bill" Patrick  & Family
William "Salty Bill" b. 1830 m. Eliza Bays. Eliza Bays b. ca.1836. They are buried in the Bluegrass Cemetery.
Children:
  1. Priscilla (step-daughter) know to family as Aunt Zilla and listed in the 1870 Census as Priscilla Collins b. 1853. She married S. Helton of Morgan County, KY.
  2. Leander "Lee"  Patrick b. 1856 m. Rose Fletcher, dau. of Hensley Fletcher. Lee was returning home, after election returns had been counted. He heard a fight break out in downtown Salyersville. He rushed back to be a spectator and was killed by a stray bullet (the only fatality). Children: Virgil Patrick.
  3. James Madison "Matt" Patrick b. 1855 m. Amanda Adams. m. #2 Easter Meadows. Children with Amanda: Susanah Patrick, Rena Patrick, Sola Patrick, Floyd Patrick (Floyd married George Ann "Georgeanna" Brown, see Brown Family tree), June Patrick, Malta Patrick, Wiley Patrick, Burl Patrick, Lenore "Nora" Patrick, Claude Patrick, Ida Patrick, Estella Patrick. Children with Easter: Paul F. Patrick, Ann Margarett Patrick, Junita Hazel Patrick, Helen Patrick, Edith Patrick.

John Ryner Patrick b. 1859 m. Drucilla Gullett. Drucilla is the daughter of Daniel Gullett and Levana (last name unknown). Drucilla was born 1874 and died in the 1900's. Buried at the Bluegrass Cemetery. Also listed in the Bluegrass Cemetery Page.

  1. Frank Patrick m. Sadie Smith. Frank & Sadie rasied Sadie's children from her 1st marriage. Their names were Ula & Bernard Collins.
  2. Sola Patrick m. Luther Lemaster
  3. Sherman Patrick m. Myrtle Collins.
  4. Bessie "Bess" Patrick m. Ern Brown (see Brown Family Tree). Bess is my great grandmother.  Bess & Ern had five children; Will Press, Clifford, Leone, Mary and Maxine.
