Jenny Wiley 1760-1831
Heroic pioneer mother and wife. Captured by Indians, Oct. 1, 1789. At Walker's Creek, VA. Witnessed the slaying of her brother and five children by savages. She was held captive for several (11) months on Little Mud Lick in present Johnson County. She escaped from the Indians to Harmon Station at the Block House Bottom and was later united with her husband Thomas Wiley. Mrs. Wiley returned to Johnson County with her husband and a cabin was built (close to the grave site) about 1800. Where they reared a family of five children.
(This is on her grave)

Children:
In  the book I have read, it does not give the names of the brother or the five children killed by Indians. I got these names from research on the Internet.
  1. Robert Bruce Wiley
  2. Tommy Wiley
  3. Elizabeth Wiley
  4. George Wiley
  5. Name Unknown

These children along with Jenny's younger brother were killed by Indians. After her return from captivity five other children were born to them.
  1. Herekiah Wiley  b. 1794 married Christine Nelson, of George's Creek, KY. and settled in Twelve Pole Creek, where he lived for many years; died in 1882, while on a visit to friends in KY. Herekiah & Christine had twelve children.
  2. Mary Jane Wiley b. 1795. Married Richard Williamson, who settled on Twelve Pole. I have been told that Mary was born 1791, being the first child born after her return from captivity. In a book I read it listed her as the 2nd child. The names  in the book may have not been in order.
  3. Sarah "Sally" Wiley b. 1797. Married 1st Christian Yost, of KY; moved to Wayne County, WV. After his death she married Samuel Murray. She died March 10, 1871.
  4. William "Billy" Wiley b. 1802, married Sarah O'Bryan. (see below).
  5. Adam P. Wiley b. 1799. Known as Vard Wiley, sometimes called "Adam Pre Vard". The full name of Adam is Adam Prevard Wiley. The name Adam was for Adam Harman.  Prevard was a mispronunciation of Brevard. Mrs. Wiley was related by blood to the North Carolina family. That is why she gave the name to her son. Often Prevard was spelled Pervard.  He was a great fiddler. Preached at the Baptist Church.

  6. Both Adam and William left families in Johnson County, Kentucky.

William Billy Wiley  married Sarah O'Bryan.
