Louis (Lewis) Powers (Power) born Jan. 1, 1786 in South Carolina and died Sept. 09, 1871 in Magoffin County. Lewis Powers married Elizabeth Martha Prater.
Elizabeth was born July 28, 1791 in Russell County, VA. She is the
daughter of Archibald Prater and Sarah M. Fugate. Nancy Prater (Elizabeth's sister) married William Patrick. Lewis &
Elizabeth married on Jan. 15, 1807 in Floyd County, Kentucky and they
had twelve children. Lewis was a farmer. His home was valued at
$2100.00 in 1850. Lewis is buried at the Bluegrass Cemetery in Magoffin
County.

born in 1830 in KY and died 1883. James married Nancy Jane Blair. Nancy
was born 1839 in KY and died in 1927. James Powers was a
carpenter. They had seven children. Nancy Jane made soap and
Jimmy Allen has her old black kettle. He said that it don't have any
scratches on it or not the first spot of rust either.
